BEST WINTER BEER OF 2020 : BEER WORLD RECOMMENDATIONS

There’s nothing quite like warming up on a chilly winter day in front of a roaring fire with a beer in hand. What beer are you drinking? Well, that’s entirely up to you! With fall fading into winter, those lighter Beers you enjoyed during the warm weather months – goses, lagers, session IPAs – may become less appealing. The looming chill of winter lay ahead, turning us for the longing of warmth and comfort.

In the fall, our palates are assaulted with pumpkin spice madness, but as October fades into November, the days get shorter and the thermostats set higher, that special time of year arrives when we set our lips upon the “winter warmers” – a big-bodied Beer, usually with higher alcohol content, and spices that remind us of those heartwarming memories of the holidays.

To help guide you on your winter drinking adventures, we’ve compiled a list of Beer that you will love drinking this season.

1. BOURBON COUNTY STOUT 2020- GOOSE ISLAND

It is the Original Bourbon Barrel-aged Imperial Stout. The best beer with the best ingredients, which includes the finest of bourbon whiskey barrels. The Bourbon County Stout is aged in a mix of bourbon barrels from a variety of whiskey distilleries.

Barrel-aged for a year to develop the complexity and smoothness that only time can provide. Bourbon County Stout boasts a unique blend of flavors such as fudge, vanilla, and caramel — topped off with a rich, complex mouthfeel.

2. N’ICE CHOUFFE :

N’ice CHOUFFE is the winter beer from the Achouffe Brewery. It is a must-have from Belgium on our holiday list. Smooth and strong, this dark beer warms both hearts and atmospheres, making even the coldest winters joyful.

We recommend that you enjoy it during the colder months preferably by the fireplace. It is a dark beer, slightly hoppy, spiced with thyme and curaçao, and made using orange peel. It has an alcohol content of 10%. N’ice CHOUFFE goes well with any winter dish.

STYLE: Strong ALE- Belgian Dark
ABV: 10%

3. VON TRAPP’S:

Trösten, translating to “comforting”, is a dark lager with rich notes of chestnut and toast. Carafa and smoked malts create rich flavors lingering on a surprisingly light, smooth finish. It is a magical dark lager full of smoky malt and rich flavor. The Austrian roots of Von Trapp brewery really deliver a warm celebration to this historic style of beer! Brewed for those cold winter nights in Vermont, but can be enjoyed on any occasion.

4. TROEGS MAD ELF:

Some holiday beers have quirky mascots. The most mischievous among them might be the one for Tröegs winter warmer, The Mad Elf. The brewery blames the inebriated elf for the indulgent flavors and high ABV of this Belgian strong dark ale, but we’re not complaining.
