Some drinks just sound better at a certain time of year. Rosé in the summer, red wine in winter, and, naturally, cider in fall. As the leaves start to change, make your way to the grocery store (or Drizly, because delivery, duh) and try some of our fave hard ciders. Apple, pear, pineapple, rosé…there are tons of flavors to choose from. There’s a cider out there for everyone.
But before that, let us tell you a little about Cider.
Cider is a natural, liquid beverage that is obtained from the pressing of a finely ground fruit such as apples. Under the proper conditions, it undergoes a natural fermentation process, which yields an alcoholic juice. Cider has been made for thousands of years, however, it has only recently seen a significant rise in popularity.
Although cider is often placed in a similar category to beer (to which it is a popular alternative), the cider production method is closer to winemaking than brewing. Unsurprisingly, it is sometimes also known as apple wine.
Cider production methods vary from region to region and style to style. They dictate not just the cider’s alcoholic strength, but also its depth of color and whether it is clear or cloudy, still or sparkling. Alcohol levels vary considerably between ciders; most fall somewhere around 5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), but some high-strength ciders reach 13 percent. Cider was traditionally a still, cloudy liquid, but modern consumers have shown a clear preference for clear, sparkling styles.

- Black Widow Cider
The black widow is fruit-forward, yet tart, with a tantalizing complexity, made with blackberries and freshly pressed New York apples.
Wild blackberries are native across the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States. They grow bountifully throughout summer and ripen to a plump juicy black color in August. They belong to the rose family, as you might expect from their thorny brambles, along with raspberries, strawberries, the stone fruits, and almonds.

- Dry Rosé Cider

- Pear Cider
Two parts pear, one part magic. A Dry cider fermented with champagne yeast.
Original Sin Pear Cider was developed in line with the company’s mission to produce traditional cider. Original Sin Pear is light and refreshing with a clean, dry finish.
Note: The first recorded grafted pear tree was planted in the New World in 1647 by Peter Stuyvesant on what became the corner of 13th Street and 3rd Avenue in New York City. Today a plaque in the East Village marks the spot of this celebrated tree.
